BOOKING INFO
I perform at
a wide variety of events, including pubs, coffeehouses, private gatherings,
cultural events, Celtic/folk festivals, folk clubs and libraries. Upon request, I can
prepare a special educational program such as "Ireland in Song and
Story" and I have also conducted ballad workshops. In addition to the
'serious' folk music I enjoy rollicking Irish party songs and can put together a
nice program of Clancy Brothers/Dubliner type songs for your Irish
Event. If you would like to book
me for a performance please contact me by e-mail at maryrrf@yahoo.com
or call me at 804-986-0965.

Here is a
brief summary of some of the presentations I have developed:
IRELAND
IN SONG AND STORY
“Ireland
in Song and Story” was first performed at Pat
Troy’s “Ireland’s Own” in Alexandria, Virginia, on Easter Sunday, to
commemorate the Irish uprising of 1916. Beginning
with the mysterious Tuatha de Danaan of Irish legend, we hear about The Flight
of the Earls, the Uprisings of 1798, the Potato Famine and subsequent mass
emigration, the Rebellion of 1916 , right up to the present day.
SCOTLAND
IN SONG AND STORY
Scotland’s
turbulent history has given rise to some of the most beautiful songs and ballads
ever known. From songs inspired by the
ancient Pictish warriors who terrorized the Romans (finally causing them to
abandon their efforts to subdue them and erect Hadrian’s Wall as a barrier)
through the clan wars of the 1400’s and the Jacobite uprisings of the 17th
and 18th centuries, these ballads provide us with a living oral
history of the events and the people who lived through them.
SOLDIER
SONGS
Stories
of the men who marched off to the wars, and the women who loved them, mourned
them, and sometimes followed them! This
presentation pays tribute to the those who,
over the centuries, have
served their country and sometimes made the ultimate sacrifice.
“HER”STORY
– A WOMAN’S PERSPECTIVE
For
centuries, women stayed behind the scenes and their contributions to
society went uncelebrated. They
cooked, cleaned, raised the children, worked in fields and factories, and held
their communities together through thick and thin.
The ballads tell us what the history books don’t mention!
